How do you make the perfect meal taste even better? Simple, you get better ingredients. Thrive Tech is a rider-focused design combined with a mindful approach to material use. This new era of Thrive boards has been equipped with all new materials to make your ride all that more sweet and tasty.
Dive into Thrive Tech!
The forces the rider applies to the board are concentrated into the binding and inserts. The primary design focus in a Thrive Boards is to radiate more of this downward force of the rider out to the tip and tail of the board. We accomplish this by crafting the cores, supports, and materials to bring energy to the contact points. This core profiling design is what radiates energy out to the critical load points. The Thrive Motion Core is a key aspect of our boards’ design that makes the boards feel alive and playful.
A longer effective edge creates better edge hold while reducing friction, creating the perfect balance between board size and swing weight relative to board edge hold and stability. Lengthening effective edges reduces point friction by spreading the rider’s force over a larger surface area. We accomplish this by using a smooth radial-sidecut that terminates at a parabolic arc incorporated into the board’s tip and tail shape. Our Elongated Sidecut allows us to create boards that hold a better edge while still being fast, light, and playful.
The next level of top sheet durability is here! The all-new Thrive Impact Topsheet is featured on every Thrive board! The high tensile strength improves energy transfer acting as another layer of support to the Tri-Axle Fiberglass layered underneath. The top sheet’s grippy texture makes for the perfect surface for riding one-footed on and off the lift and beyond. This more robust material not only can take a beating but also looks fantastic!
The search for a faster base has led us to our new Thrive Sintered Graphite P-Tex base material. Let’s dive into what all this means and why it makes Thrive boards faster. Sintered P-Tex goes through a slow curing process so the polymer molecules aline, allowing for a material that can take on more structure. Adding carbon and graphite into the compound can reduce weight while increasing electrical and thermal conductivity, resulting in reduced friction and less ionization that draws in dirt and pollutants. All this Tech makes for a board base that is faster, cleaner, and super tune-able.
UHMW = Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene is an extremely tough plastic with high durability and an extremely low coefficient of friction. This is why chainsaw manufacturers are now using the same material for chain guides on all modern saws. UHMW is a polymer with an unsurpassed combination of slickness, toughness, and durability, known for its self-lubricating properties that repel water. Ultra HMW is the perfect high-performance material for Thrive Sidewalls.
Poplar is a fast-growing hardwood that makes up the main component of our wood cores. Planting poplar trees can help remove harmful contaminants from soil and groundwater. Microbes that grown in the roots allow the continents to be isolated and not pass up into the tree, making for a quality lightweight wood core that is better for the environment.
Bamboo stringers are now built into the wood cores to every Thrive Board in the lineup. The transition from hardwood to bamboo allows us to reduce board weight while increasing rebound energy. Bamboo is two times stronger than our previously used birch, brings the snap and liveliness underfoot that makes the board playful and alive on the mountain. As the fasting growing plant on the planet, bamboo is a crucial element for reducing our boards’ environmental impact.
The carbon layout that made the earlier versions of Thrive boards so much fun is now improved with our new Pre-Cured Carbon Stringers. The pre-curing process fully saturates the carbon with resin before being pressed into the board, ensuring the boards have more snap, increased energy transfer, and a board that will hold up for more days.
In our endless pursuit of making Thrive boards rider better, we have made the transition from Biaxial to Triaxial fiberglass. The new glass improves energy transfer by adding to the longitudinal and transverse plans with increased diagonal structure. This unique fiberglass has made it possible to make performance gains while decreasing weight and improving impact resistance.
More stances, more options, more fun!
The two-centimeter layout of the seven insert rows allows for five unique binding placements per binding. Riders can easily find the board’s centered stance while allowing for narrower, wider, or setback stance setups. The 2x7 Insert Packs is one of the key elements to helping riders dial in their stance to fit their riding style best.
We now incorporate our super strong Flax Insert Patches into the equation to improve binding insert support and dampening. Our Thrive Flax fabric is a bio-based renewable material that replaces our previously used non-earth-friendly Kevlar fabric. The nonlinear behavior of the Flax allows for high-impact landings to be better absorbed, reducing board degradation and decreasing the chance of board breaks when loaded with extreme forces.
